understand that these ISV’s (printer manufacturers too) have access to certain
code releases and framework documentation often “years” in advanced
to the release of an OS. There is simply <b>no excuse</b> for them to be
dragging their feet and I let them know via my buying power. If they don’t
keep up with technology, than I won’t purchase their equipment and this
happened with Vista. We switched copiers/printer manufacturers (they were up on
lease anyways and were due to be replaced) and this was a good portion of the
decision making process.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

fail or crash the print spooler. I’m not saying it couldn’t, just
my experience is that certified drivers are pretty rock solid. In the print
driver area, WHQL drivers indicate that the driver is loaded in user mode as
opposed to kernel mode so it doesn’t do anything too bad. Believe it or
not, vendors still make print drivers that run in kernel mode…<o:p></o:p></span></p>

kept us from deploying until we can get a stable printing/OS infrastructure for
Vista we’ll still not switch. We do have a few stalwarts who’ve
transitioned but I’d really like to have Microsoft make sure that things
don’t break in such a big way. I’ve had two support organizations
review the situation and have been able to come to no resolution. Vista print
drivers on Win2k3 print servers for Vista clients just have been a pain.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
